Advertising Opportunities with an Exciting New Internet Magazine for Worldwide Fly Fishers In its first year of operation A River Never Sleeps hooked up with fly fishermen in over 20 countries, recording more than one million site visits.
Nick Didlick, the photo editor and web master, is a former Reuters photographer who now shoots for the National Post, Canadas leading national newspaper. Mr. Didlick has won many awards for his photo journalism, including a National Newspaper Award, which is Canadas version of the Pulitzer. Mark Hume, the editor and lead writer, is the Vancouver bureau chief for the National Post, and is a double winner of the National Newspaper Award. Mr. Hume has written three books about salmon rivers in British Columbia, one of which won the Roderick Haig-Brown Award. Advertising Opportunities: Until now we have not been accepting advertising. Our whole focus has been on content, and establishing a strong relationship with our readers. Now we are offering two different advertising opportunities on A River Never Sleeps.
For the first time, we are offering the opportunity for a few, select businesses to identify with our site by becoming sponsorship partners - and connect with fly fishermen globally. A small number of sponsors will be given banner space on the cover, which records about 17,000 hits on the first of each month, and which holds readers with its graphic content and sound of a trout stream. This is the main entry point to the site, but many have bookmarked the contents page, or their favorite column. In total, there are 200 html pages on the site, all of which will also show the Site Partner banner, associating advertisers with stories about fly fishing around the world. Banners will appear on all of our more than 200 current and past issue pages, which are available through our Back Issues section, solidly branding our Site Partners to the magazine. These banners which will be 95x50 pixels and be directly linked to your site or to a splash page of your design linked to your site. To see this option in action click on the Sage ad right. Your ad will also have a statistics package which will monitor how many impressions your ad receives. A River Never Sleeps is a full feature Internet fly fishing site with regular feature pages posted monthly, a searchable back issues section and an online guestbook, discussion list, postcard centre and frequently updated News Bytes feature which is linked off the cover with a scrolling text alert. There are travel pieces, articles on science and nature, a regular Fly Box feature that explores the world of entomology as well as musings by our regular columnists. Coming soon: a regular series by Kathy Ruddick, three-time member of Canadas World Fly Fishing team, who will take a young woman under her tutelage, and teach her how to fly fish.
A River Never Sleeps is a key source of information for fly fishermen around the world who are interested in visiting British Columbia. For lodges, guides, fly fishing stores and other businesses that want to reach those readers, the magazine offers space on our Fishing BC page. These spots are 100 pixels wide by 50 pixels high and are located in a high traffic area, used by fishermen who are planning trips to B.C.
